FOR INTERBAKE FOODS, TODAY’S SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES ARE A NATURAL OUTGROWTH OF OUR 115 YEAR HISTORY OF BEING RESPONSIBLE CORPORATE CITIZENS.
One of our key initiatives is ensuring the healthfulness of new and existing products while maintaining the quality (taste, texture & appearance), shelf life and value that our customers expect. We will do this by:
- Increasing the use of ingredients with proven nutritional benefits, including fiber and whole grains, where possible.
- Reducing the use of ingredients that, in excess, are not part of a healthy diet, including sodium, sugars, fats, and preservatives.
In March 2015, Interbake Foods was one of the first food manufacturers in the United States to launch 100% of cookies without partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs).
Interbake Foods is also a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). We source our palm oil exclusively from members of the RSPO and support the efforts of the organization to encourage sustainable farming practices.
We will continue to work with our suppliers to increase our use of sustainable palm oil with a goal to get to 100% segregated sustainable palm oil when it becomes logistically and financially feasible.

GreenPalm certificates allow companies to reward palm producers for working in a sustainable and responsible way. RSPO certified palm oil producers can register a quantity of their output with the GreenPalm program. They are then awarded one GreenPalm certificate for each ton of palm oil which has been sustainably produced.
Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil
Sustainably produced palm oil from certified plantations is mixed with conventional palm oil during transport and storage. This system helps reduce logistical complexity by fulfilling the supply chain with segregated palm products, a valuable step towards 100% certified palm oil.
Segregated Palm Oil
Sustainably produced palm oil from certified plantations is segregated from palm oil from non-certified sources at every stage of the supply chain.
