Quality Processes at Interbake

Interbake Foods uses Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) and Integrated Process Management (IPM) to consistently produce "superior, worry-free and best cost" cookies, crackers, specialty items, and equipment for our customers.

Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)

Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) helps Interbake Foods create a predictable manufacturing environment and achieve world-class levels of customer satisfaction in order and shipping compliance.

Interbake Foods is audited by a third party, independent auditor and has been certified at the Class A MRPII level for the entire enterprise. In 1994, Interbake Foods was the first food company in North America to be certified Class A in MRPII.

Interbake uses MRPII to:

  • Forecast customer needs, plan for the required raw and packaging materials, and schedule the production based on capacity.
  • Efficiently use resources so that we can be responsive to our customers by decreasing lead times (how much time it takes to fill an order once the customer places it).
  • Continually improve processes so that it reduces costs by not carrying extra inventory in raw materials as well as the finished product.
  • Effectively plan for and distribute our products according to our customers' needs.

Integrated Process Management (IPM)

Interbake Foods uses Integrated Process Management (IPM) to manage our production process. Since 1993, IPM has been a major driving force of our operations and has been crucial in eliminating waste and improving product quality at each of our manufacturing facilities.

At Interbake Foods, we use IPM's six-step quality management system to:

  • Empower our employees to "own" the quality of the products and to make decisions regarding the process.
  • Identify the important quality characteristics that our customers expect.
  • Control all the variables in the process (inputs) to assure that the output is what our customer desires.
  • Standardize our processes to ensure consistent quality products.
  • Statistically monitor and improve our processes and products.
  • Communicate, train and promote teamwork to achieve "superior, worry-free and best cost" products and equipment for our customers.
